“The Jungle” a film by Matt Wechsler

April 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

“The Jungle” is an update on Upton Sinclair’s 1906 expose of the meatpacking industry which resulted in many industry reforms. Matt Wechsler, an Emmy nominated director, previously brought us “Right to Harm” which examined the harms to rural communities by industrial farming. In “The Jungle” he explores the way the present system of producing meat harms the planet, the animals we eat and our health. Could Indigenous practices help solve some of the problems?

“The Jungle” premiered at the Woodstock Festival in Oct 2024 and will be shown free of charge to mark Earth Day in 15 venues in 9 states. This  showing is part of Earth Day 2025- Valley City sponsored by Valley City State University, What in the World is Going On?  and the Barnes County Historical Society.
