Cocktail Class – Rye vs. Rye

Taste classic rye cocktails made with different brands of rye whiskey to see what the ultimate mixing rye is!

How much does the brand name of a base spirit make a difference in the final cocktail? Will one rye whiskey work pretty much like another? We love to give advice about brands that work well for mixing, but it is not very often we get to test products head-to-head to see how much of a difference it could make.

In this class, Evan Christie will mix up three classic rye cocktails – The Sazerac, The Manhattan, and a Frisco Sour.  For each cocktail, he will use two different rye whiskeys, allowing the audience to judge which makes the superior cocktail. Does Rittenhouse reign supreme, as so many bartenders(and Evan) think? Will a higher percentage of rye throw the balance off? How will small craft producers’ whiskies stand up? Join us for this exciting battle of rye versus rye!
