FM Pride: Interfaith Service
Sun Aug 12, 2018, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The theme for Pride 2018 Interfaith Service is “Metamorphosis”, that process of unfolding and unfurling the person hidden away, waiting to reveal their fullness and beauty. LGBTQ+ and ally participants will be invited to reflect upon and celebrate the journey that transforms into a more authentic self. This service will center around four moments along that journey: discovering, unravelling, discording, and embracing.
The service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018
At the Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway Ave.
Reception prior to the service at Noon
Service at 12:30.
The Interfaith Service is designed to create a sacred space in which we are all welcome, a place where we can
find rest and respite from persecution, a place where we can be filled and fired to go out and be our authentic selves in the world.
In our contemporary world a place where you know you will be welcomed with love seems to be getting more and more precious. This worship service is such a place. People of all faith and no faith are welcome to celebrate with us. People of all genders and all orientations and those who do not identify as any gender or orientation are welcome to celebrate with us.
This is a truly open invitation. Come. You will not be asked to participate in ways that you aren’t comfortable doing.
No one will attempt to get you to believe anything you do not believe. Many of us have been hurt by religion, or more specifically by people who have used religion as a weapon of hate. Come to this event because religion can be used to heal, religion can be expressed in love.
The worship service happens directly before the parade, allowing participants to center themselves in the sacredness of our stories. A time of fellowship and refreshment will be offered before the worship. We will meet in the Fargo Theater.
