This winter, through a collaboration with Folkways and Drekker Brewing Company, Christkindlmarkt will move to the brewery at 1666 1st Ave. N. The new venue, just west of downtown, will hold the holiday event over four days.
Hosted by Folkways, a local community building organization known for bringing captivating events like the Red River Market and Night Bazaar to downtown Fargo, the third annual Christkindlmarkt delivers a bit of holiday enchantment the whole family can enjoy.
Through this collaboration, Christkindlmarkt will be able to expand hours later into the evenings and create an experience closer to those seen in Europe. “This is such a cool event to have in our community and we’re excited to be a part of it,” said Jesse Feigum, Co-Founder of Drekker Brewing Company. “We can’t wait to turn Brewhalla into a winter wonderland.” Drekker Brewing Company’s beer hall will have a wide selection of beers brewed on-site that can be purchased in a commemorative Christkindlmarkt mug. This year, the commemorative mugs, which have sold out every year, will be handmade by local ceramicist, Hayden Swanson of Livin’ the Dream Pottery. The beer hall will also feature live musical performances every evening.Throughout the four-day event, the outdoor Winter Wonderland will bring the cheer of the holiday season surrounded by twinkling trees as visitors roast s’mores by the fire. Local artisans will set up mini-shops in traditional Christkindlmarkt booths to sell handmade gifts. Those looking for something to eat can try traditional holiday foods and sweet treats.
With a little something for everyone, Sunday’s activities will be focused on kids and families with outdoor games, festive face painting, holiday storytime, and more from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly in order to enjoy spending time outdoors this holiday season. You can find event updates and a full schedule of events at www.xmasfargo.com.
