Christkindlmarkt Creates Winter Wonderland At Drekker Brewing

Folkways Christkindlmarkt will move to Drekker Brewing Company this year and will run Thursday, November 21st through Sunday, November 24th.

Folkways Christkindlmarkt runs Thursday, November 21st through Sunday, November 24th at Drekker Brewing in Fargo

Discover a holiday tradition at Christkindlmarkt, a German-inspired celebration at Drekker Brewing Company. Hosted by Folkways, a local community building organization known for bringing captivating events like the Red River Market and Night Bazaar to downtown Fargo, the third annual Christkindlmarkt delivers a bit of holiday enchantment the whole family can enjoy.

Throughout the four-day event, the outdoor Winter Wonderland will bring the cheer of the holiday season surrounded by twinkling evergreen trees as visitors roast s’mores by the fire. “Chirstkindlmarkt gives our community a chance to spend time outdoors during what can be a cold and dark season,” said co-organizer, Simone Wai.

Local artisans will set up mini-shops in a traditional outdoor Vendor Village to sell handmade gifts. Those looking for something to eat can try European holiday foods in the Food Hall like currywurst from Wurst Bier Hall and an authentic Raclette cheese experience by Mosaic Catering. In the Sweet Shop, vendors will be selling Christmas cookies from around the world, homemade gelato, and salted caramel cider.

Inside, Drekker Brewing Company’s taproom will host 25 live music and live performance acts throughout the event from Dakota Dutchmen, Meat Rabbits, The JT Kenelley Band, and more. Drekker will have a wide selection of beers brewed on-site that can be purchased in a commemorative Christkindlmarkt mug. This year, the commemorative mugs, which have sold out every year, will be handmade by local ceramicist, Hayden Swanson of Livin’ the Dream Pottery. “I’m so excited to make these mugs for the people of the Fargo-Moorhead community and to be able to do so with Folkways,” said Swanson.

With a little something for everyone, Sunday’s activities will be focused on kids and families with outdoor games, festive face painting, holiday storytime, and more from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly in order to enjoy spending time outdoors this holiday season. You can find a full schedule of events, parking information, and volunteer opportunities at www.xmasfargo.com.
