The Gina Powers Band, who have been a popular staple on the local Fargo-Moorhead music scene for the past 10+ years will play their last show together as a band this Friday, August 19th. The band is the featured performer at the Broadway Square Bash, the Fargo Park District’s end-of-summer celebration at the downtown park.
The band’s lead singer, Gina Powers, will be embarking on a solo career after getting signed to an international label out of Nashville, TN for a recording deal! Defying “the odds” in a business full of younger talent and “new” sounds, Gina held her own and stood out as a uniquely beautiful + seasoned voice among the masses and is thrilled to be beginning this new journey in her fifties. A true testament to perseverance and talent!
Her first single release, Mississippi Burning, has already been played on local radio station Froggy 99.9 and is getting requests for replay daily. Signed to Hughmont International, Gina will be working with legendary songwriter, Jerry Foster, who is perhaps best known as one-half of the infamous songwriting team of Foster & Rice, the most awarded songwriting team in the history of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) working with legends such as Charley Pride, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Williams Jr. and now Gina Powers!
“Friday’s show is the last one in 2022 scheduled for us here in Fargo and although I am shifting to a solo brand, my bandmates Mitch, Russ and Nathan will continue to be the solid team of musicians joining me on stage as I head into the next chapter,” said Powers. “These musicians are the ‘dream weavers’ — they take what’s thrown at them and give it life! I am so honored to have them alongside.”
Joining the Gina Powers Band at the event are special guests Pat Lenertz, Kari Marie, and Jack Anderson. Food and beverage are available for purchase from Casa Delicia, Ade’s Cuisine, Namaste Chai, Fargo Brewing, and Wild Terra Cider. The event is free and open to the public.
