Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed

Valley Senior Services

More than 9 million seniors in America face the threat of hunger every day and millions more live alone in isolation. Use your lunch break to make someone’s day by volunteering with Meals on Wheels through Valley Senior Services. The Meals on Wheels program provides one hot, nutritious meal per day for those 60 and older who are homebound and meet eligibility standards. Volunteers are needed to deliver meals Monday through Friday throughout Fargo and Cass, Steele, Traill, Ransom, Sargent, and Richland counties.

Local volunteers deliver more than 1,400 meals and friendly greetings to homebound seniors every single day. This involves picking up meals at a central location and delivering them along a pre-determined route directly to the homes of seniors in the area. Meals on Wheels routes are designed to fit within a lunch break of no more than an hour and a half. Volunteer schedules can be flexible, whether it be once a week, once a month, or as needed. Groups are also welcome to volunteer.

All Meals on Wheels volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Those under 18 years old are welcome to volunteer but must be accompanied by an adult. Prior to volunteering, a background check release form, photo release form, and volunteer application must be completed. To download these forms, visit the volunteer page of ValleySeniorServices.org. Forms must be returned to the Valley Senior Services office (2801 32nd Ave S) in Fargo or emailed to mealsonwheels@fargoparks.com. Volunteers use their own vehicles and must have a valid driver’s license and proof of current insurance.
