Red River Market Celebrates Local Food with Winter Market in February

Those who are missing summer at the farmers’ market will get a chance to stock up on their favorite goods from local vendors at the Giving Hearts Day Winter Market. The Red River Market will host a Winter Market event on Saturday, February 4th, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at West Acres Mall in celebration of their participation in Giving Hearts Day.

Red River Market’s goal is to raise $30,000 for Giving Hearts Day on February 9th from community members. Funds raised will contribute to valuable community programming including educational cooking demonstrations, live music, and cultural performances, SNAP/EBT outreach, and children’s programming.

At the Winter Market, visitors can shop for locally made food products and listen to live music, all while in the warmth and comfort of the mall. A selection of hot foods will also be available including farmers’ market favorites Deb’s Corner, Saigon Kuisine, and Maria’s Homestyle Mexican.

This winter version of the weekly summer market will feature a wide variety of locally made pantry items including canned goods, honey, and hot sauce, household products like soaps and lotions, as well as arts and crafts. From giant cookies from Jen’s Bakery, to beef from Prairie Soul Meats, there is something for everyone at the event.

The stage will host live musical performances by Short Notice and Kyle Colby, with a surprise community performance at 12:00 p.m. There will be a cooking demonstration from Tori Lee of Family Wellness following the performance, with free samples available afterward. An expo of other non-profit organizations participating in Giving Hearts Day will also take place alongside the market with activities for kids and families.
