This winter, Christkindlmarkt will return to the community in a new venue, the Fargo Civic Center. The European-inspired holiday event encourages the community to spend time together with activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Throughout the four-day event, the outdoor Winter Wonderland will bring the cheer of the holiday season surrounded by twinkling trees as visitors roast s’mores by the fire. Local artisans will set up mini-shops in traditional Christkindlmarkt booths to sell handmade gifts. The Winter Wonderland will also feature outdoor caroling performances and a tree lighting ceremony to kick off the event.
Inside, the Civic Center arena will be transformed into a German Bier Hall in collaboration with Drekker Brewing Company. Along with a selection of their usual beers, Drekker will be serving a variety of winter warmers exclusive to the event including a mulled gluhbier. Beers and other beverages can be enjoyed in the event’s annual commemorative mug, which has sold out every year. 2,500 mugs will be handmade by local ceramicist, Hayden Swanson of Livin’ the Dream Pottery.
The Bier Hall will also feature a full schedule of live musical performances throughout the event. Headliners include Dakota Dutchmen, Meat Rabbits, and The JT Kenelley Band. Holiday dance performances by FM Ballet, Dance Studio Elite, and FM Aerial & Movement Arts will be sprinkled throughout the event.
Those looking for something to eat can try traditional holiday foods and sweet treats throughout the Bier Hall and Concourse.
Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly in order to enjoy spending time outdoors this holiday season. You can find event updates and a full schedule of events at www.xmasfargo.com.
