1 Million Cups Fargo to Feature Olympic Women’s Hockey Champions’ Foundation

The kickoff for 1 Million Cups Fargo’s sixth year takes place on Wednesday, January 22nd from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at the Sanctuary Events Center. The event will feature the champions of the USA’s 2018 Olympic Women’s Hockey team, Monique and Jocelyne Lamoureux speaking about their foundation, The Monique and Jocelyne Lamoureux Foundation.

Both North Dakota natives, the sisters have been playing ice hockey since they were teenagers, beginning their career on the Peewee A Boys’ team in 2001-2002. Since then, they have gone on to lead teams at the University of Minnesota, University of North Dakota, and have appeared thrice in the Winter Olympics. The latest Winter Olympics in Seoul, South Korea featured the sisters playing a pivotal role in winning the gold medal for Team USA.

Apart from their impressive hockey career, the Lamoureux sisters have championed personal work with gender equity and have created initiatives to bring internet access to underprivileged families. Their latest venture, The Monique and Jocelyne Lamoureux Foundation, focuses on working with groups that support disadvantaged children through education and extracurricular activities.
