Red​ ​River​ ​Winter Market​ ​Brings a ‘Taste of Summer’ Downtown

Those who are missing warm summer days at the farmers’ market will get a chance stock up on their favorite goods from local vendors at the Red River Winter Market. The Red River Market, Fargo-Moorhead’s largest farmers’ market, will host a winter market event on Saturday, January 20th, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Plains Art Museum.

This winter version of the weekly summer market will provide visitors a chance to peruse local products, connect with friends, enjoy a hot coffee or locally brewed beer, and listen to live music, all while in the warmth and comfort of the great indoors.

In lieu of the market’s usual produce selection, this winter market will have a wide variety of locally made pantry items including canned goods, honey, and hot sauce, household products like soaps and lotions, as well as arts and crafts. From fried pies from the Baker’s Wagon, to mushrooms and rolled oats from Doubting Thomas Farms, there will be something for everyone at the Red River Winter Market.

Market goers can also enjoy a variety of hot food and drinks. Wine, beer and cocktails from local brewers and distillers will be available for enjoyment at the market or bottles can be purchased to take home. A selection of hot foods will also be available including farmers market favorites like the French crepes from Deja Vu Catering and African lunch plates from Adibon.

Beyond the products available, market organizer, Joe Burgum, hopes that this event creates an opportunity for community members to spend time with their neighbors this winter. “We are thrilled to be bring the experience of spending time at the market to the winter months. This is an event that is open to all,” said Burgum.

The Red River Market has partnered with the Plains Art Museum to host this winter’s market in a beautiful indoor space. Red River Market will be hosting more events before their regular season starts in July. You can find more details on their website.
